JOHN SCULLY: "WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT WON'T HAVE ANY BEARING ON THIS FIGHT" By James Alden | January 27, 2012
"That fight is completely behind us already. It will be talked about and rehashed a thousand times over the next two months, I know this, but what happened that night won't have any bearing on this fight other than the fact that both guys may feel the need to put a little extra into things. But by the same token, even if that didn't happen last time, both guys should be ready and will be ready to put everything into this fight and every fight. If you put 100 percent into your training and mental preparation, then you shouldn't be able to say you did the exact thing you did the first time," stated Chad Dawson's world-class trainer John Scully, who talked about the announcement of the upcoming rematch with Bernard Hopkins. | JAMES TONEY: "I WANT TO FIGHT...MARCH OR APRIL, I WILL BE READY" By Percy Crawford | January 27, 2012

I'm still here and I still train hard every day and that loss only made me hungrier...I wanna fight tomorrow if I could. Probably March or April, I will be ready...I promise you I'm gonna be better than ever. Tell Tarver we can still do it. I see he needs a fight. We can still do it," stated future Hall of Famer James "Lights Out" Toney, who's looking to get back in the ring after rehabbing an injury to his knee that he suffered in his last bout. Most 27-year-old boxing prospects in the prime of their careers are getting ready for the marquee victory that will vault them into contender status for a world title shot. Most of these boxers have a decorated amateur pedigree and have been active in the sport before hitting puberty. Junior welterweight Chris Algieri (12-0 6 KO's) isn't most prospects, however, and he isn't waiting for his chance. He plans on taking it. Algieri's beginning in boxing began long before he turned pro in 2008 at the age of 24. Truth is, he has been training for his opportunity for a long time. read more

Recently, John Chavez of TheBoxingTruth.com contacted the Nevada State Athletic Commission to acquire the reported purse amounts of both Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. According to the official documents, which are public record and have been verified by Executive Director Keith Kizer, the numbers are alarmingly lopsided. It appears that over the past 6 years, the combined total of Pacquiao's purses are a mere fraction of what Mayweather has earned over the same time period and in almost half the number of fights. | CHRIS ARREOLA: "I ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE KNOCKOUT...I HAVE SOMETHING TO PROVE" By Percy Crawford | January 26, 2012
"I will take a knockout whenever it comes. I don't care if it's the beginning of a fight or the end of the fight. I always look for the knockout. That's my thing. And the way you look for the knockout is to set up punches and combinations and set things up by setting traps...I have something to prove, man. This is my first time being on a major network in over a year. Last time I was on a major network was the Adamek fight and I fucking lost to him, and I should have never lost to him. I hate losing and I hate talking about that fight because I should have never lost to him. So now, I'm back on a major network and making major money and the thing is man, I want to make believers out of skeptics," stated heavyweight contender Chris Arreola, who talked about his upcoming February 18 return to the ring this year to face Eric Molina. Upon receiving word that Floyd Mayweather said he'd be willing to fight him at 150 pounds, middleweight king Sergio Martinez wasted no time in accepting the offer. "I will accept Mayweather's challenge at 150 to be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. I would love to fight Mayweather at 150 at the end of the year," he commented in a recent interview. Although he began his career as a welterweight, Martinez currently fights in the 160-pound division and has not fought as low as 150 pounds in nearly 9 years. | DEVON ALEXANDER: "I'M GONNA SHOW 'EM WHY I DESERVE TO BE ON TOP" By David Kassel | January 25, 2012
"He is one of the toughest fighters out there. You know he's gonna come for you. We know what he's capable of, and he's got power. He's a good fighter and I respect the way he comes to fight, but February 25th, it isn't gonna be enough...People didn't know I was struggling to make 140 and didn't know I wasn't at full strength...Skill don't just disappear and diminish out of nowhere like that. People will see. I don't want no more excuses and I want people to give me my props when they see me now...I'm gonna show 'em why I deserve to be on top...It's gonna go down and be a good fight. I'm gonna bring it and Maidana's gonna bring it, and it's gonna be a war," stated former jr. welterweight champion Devon Alexander, who talked about his upcoming February 25 welterweight debut against Marcos Maidana. | MIKE PASSENIER: "WITH A GUY LIKE BADR, YOU NEVER KNOW...DON'T BLINK" By Percy Crawford | January 25, 2012
"With a guy like Badr, you never know what to expect. The most important thing was that everybody was in a good mood and all came for the same reason, to be entertained by a real fighter, a great athlete, and a fine human being like Badr...we save some left for Saki...I cannot control any fighter once he enters the ring or cage. I can only guide them through the fight and to victory. That's my job, and getting the fighters in shape and laying out the strategy and motivating them...The only thing I can say is just come to Leeuwaarden and watch because some things you have to see for yourself and live. It is gonna be an atmosphere like never before, and no, it is not the same as on TV. It is gonna be great and so much more, but don't blink," stated Mike Passenier, world-class trainer of Badr Hari, who talked about the upcoming rematch with Gokhan Saki. | KONCZ GIVES FALSE HOPE TO PACQUIAO, MAYWEATHER AND FANS; MEETINGS MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING By Ben Thompson | January 25, 2012
"I am in Las Vegas right now having various discussions and meetings with different people, and we have not closed the door on Floyd Mayweather," stated Manny Pacquiao's adviser, Michael Koncz, during a recent interview on RingTV.com. His carefully worded statements give false hope to those fans who still believe that Pacquiao and Mayweather will finally face each other inside the ring. "I'm here in Las Vegas pursuant to Manny's instructions trying to finalize his next bout. No doors have been shut on any of our options to this point," he continued, suggesting that he has the authority to finalize negotiations with any opponent. The only problem is that Manny Pacquiao is a Top Rank fighter, not a Koncz Promotions fighter, and the only people who do have the authority to finalize a deal with Floyd Mayweather are not actively involved in discussions. read more

| PACQUIAO-DONAIRE, MAYWEATHER-WARD, AND 8 OTHER FIGHTS TO MAKE REGARDLESS OF WEIGHT By David Kassel | January 24, 2012
We all love the sport of boxing because it's a sport where two fighters step into the ring to settle who is the best of the best. The only way that can happen is if they actually step between the ropes. Everything else is obsolete, which is why I thought we'd have some fun to distract us boxing diehards from the monotony of the super-fight that isn't in Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. What if we could match fighters in the ring like in video games and have fighters from different weight classes fight each other regardless of height, speed, power, etc.? The following is a list of the top 10 fights I'd like to see regardless of weight class. read more

| AMIR MANSOUR: "IT'S ALL A BLESSING IN DISGUISE...NOTHING CAN HOLD AMIR BACK" By Percy Crawford | January 24, 2012
"My supervised release was stagnating my career. I couldn't travel anywhere and I couldn't go out there and promote the "Hardcore" movement the way I needed to...This is a situation, man, where I can weather this storm. I got a lot of good people behind me. My management is still behind me, Dover Downs is still behind me and a lot of other people that were crucial in the rise of Amir Mansour are all still behind me. We are all on the same page and we understand that we didn't want this to happen, but it did happen and it's all a blessing in disguise because now nothing can hold Amir back once I'm done with this little time...it's really not how many times you fall, but it's how you rise after you fall that really matters and really counts, man. I'm a strong dude, man, and I'm really focused, so I'm cool and I feel good. It's a blessing in disguise, seriously man," stated undefeated heavyweight Amir Mansour, who talked about the circumstances that caused him to return to prison, when he expects to be released, and much more. | ARUM'S GOT 99 EXCUSES, BUT THE SPLIT AIN'T ONE By Ben Thompson | January 24, 2012
After last week's news of Floyd Mayweather's brief phone conversation with Manny Pacquiao, many were under the impression that negotiations for a potential May 5 showdown had resumed. Unfortunately, contrary to that belief, there has yet to be any real discussions between the principals of both camps. When reports surfaced of Floyd's reluctance to agree to an even 50/50 split of the revenue, focus quickly shifted to Mayweather as the reason why a deal would not be reached. However, the truth of the matter is that talk of the split is irrelevant so long as the main shot caller for Pacquiao, promoter Bob Arum, refuses to negotiate with Mayweather or any of his designated representatives. Instead, Arum continues to give excuse after excuse after excuse as to why the fight will not be taking place on May 5. In fact, below, you can find 99 of those excuses. read more

| ROBERT GUERRERO: "I WOULD LOVE TO GO UP TO 150 AND FIGHT SERGIO MARTINEZ" By Mike Juhas | January 23, 2012
"It's funny. None of these so-called pound-for-pound guys want to call me out. The same thing happened with Marquez. 'I don't know this guy.' 'Why should I fight him?' 'He doesn't have a name.' I was with him also on Showtime. I knocked out a guy, number one contender, in 56 seconds of the first round. It was the fastest featherweight title knockout in history, but he doesn't know who I am either. Saying they don't know me is just the fastest way to sidestep somebody and not get in the ring with him. It's a way to not have to deal with a fighter like me. I have that style that can give anybody problems...Marquez, Pacquiao, whomever I can get that would be the next biggest fight for my fans. I'm one of those throwback fighters that likes to fight the best because I want to be the best. I would love to go up to 150 and fight Sergio Martinez. Nobody wants to fight him either. I might just have to go past Mayweather and challenge a bigger guy to pick a fight," stated three-division world champion Robert Guerrer, who's eager to step in the ring and test his skills against any of the top fighters in the world. Check out what he had to say about Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez, Sergio Martinez and much more. read more

| KIM WINSLOW: "I WAS MADE FOR MMA" By Percy Crawford | January 23, 2012
"When I started out as a referee, I started in boxing. It didn't feel right, but I was trying to force it. One day, I was at the gym and I was helping a heavyweight boxer prepare for an upcoming bout and in the next ring was Ken Shamrock's Lions Den. I was trained in Martial Arts, new the rules, and Ken was gracious enough to let me in with his guys while they were training. He told them not to take it easy on me because I had to learn how to stay out of the way. That is where I learned my movement. I was going from one ring to the next and it was very clear to me at that point what the right place for me was. I finished training with the boxer, but never did another boxing match after that. I was made for MMA. I stayed with the Lion's Den and worked with Ken Shamrock Productions as an amateur referee," stated mixed martial arts referee Kim Winslow, who talked about how she got her start in the sport and much more.
