PAUL DALEY: "I'M GONNA KO HIM IN THE 1ST ROUND"By Percy Crawford | January 27, 2012

| "He's well-rounded, dangerous, and has good cardio. He's gonna come to fight...I know it's gonna be entertaining. I'm gonna KO him in the 1st round though...I'm ready for him though. I'm gotta put a Melvin Manhoef style beating on him," stated Strikeforce welterweight contender Paul Daley, who talked about his upcoming March 3 clash with Kazuo Misaki. Check it out!
PC: How have you been my man?
PD: I'm cool; training with new focus and determination.
PC: You had a very busy 2011, fighting 5 times. You are starting your 2012 in March. Is the goal to fight 5 times again this year or would you like to be more or less active?
PD: I would love to fight 5 times or more again this year. I love to fight. I love the preparation and fight day itself.
PC: March 3rd you're fighting Kazuo Misaki. Obviously he has a ton of experience, and although he is not known for having great knockout power, he is coming off of consecutive knockout victories. What do you think of him as a fighter?
PD: He's well-rounded, dangerous, and has good cardio. He's gonna come to fight.
PC: I look at this fight and I can see it as a "fun" fight for you because he is a guy that can be touched although he has a good chin. Is that your approach?
PD: Not fun, but I know it's gonna be entertaining. I'm gonna KO him in the 1st round though.
PC: It's kind of weird seeing him come off of two knockout wins and Paul Daley coming off of two decision wins. Do you think that just shows your growth and shows that you can win without knocking everyone out?
PD: Yeah, and my opponents are tougher and more durable, plus wary of the KO, so they fight scared.
PC: As much as I'm sure fans appreciate your evolution as a fighter, I'm sure those guys in Ohio are going to be looking for a signature Paul Daley knockout.
PD: And that's what they will get. I'm so focused, man.
PC: Where will most of your training take place for this fight and will you visit Mike Passenier for this camp?
PD: Yes. I will go to Mike's if time and money allow. They are great people. They are my family.
PC: Anytime I speak with a guy with the punching power that you have, I have to ask, is it more of training for power with you or accuracy?
PD: Technique, timing and the set up is what we work on in camp.
PC: What do you feel are some danger spots you have to avoid against Misaki?
PD: His clinch, his gullotine and footlocks. I'm ready for him though. I'm gotta put a Melvin Manhoef style beating on him.
PC: Man, when I look at this guy's resume, Hendo twice, Marquardt twice, Jake Shields, Filho, Kang, Trigg, Baroni and Manhoef. What would it mean to beat a guy with those kind of names on his resume in impressive fashion?
PD: Yeah man, he's very tough, like I said.
PC: What are your goals for this year my man?
PD: Stay focused, train 100%, and get this Strikeforce belt, then jump across to the UFC and rematch Nick Diaz.
PC: Quick boxing question for you, do you think we will ever get the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight?
PD: Yes, I think we will eventually, and Mayweather will take him to school.
PC: Before I let you go, I wanted to get a few quick predictions: Gokhan Saki or Badr Hari and also Nick Diaz or Carlos Condit?
PD: Hari by KO and Diaz by TKO.
PC: Thanks for your time as always. I hope to see you in the UFC again. Best of luck to you in March. Is there anything you want to say in closing?
PD: Semtex.tv, my official website. Go check it out!
